Made On YouTube 2026: Which New Creator Tools You Can Use Now, and Which Are Still Coming

YouTube announced a long list of creator tools on 23 September 2026. Most of them are not in your Studio yet. Here is each one sorted by status — available, rolling out, coming, or in testing — and what is worth preparing for now.

On 23 September 2026, at Made On YouTube, YouTube announced more creator tools in one afternoon than most channels will adopt in a year. The coverage made it sound like all of it arrived at once. It did not: some features are rolling out, several are "coming soon", and a few are tests.

This is the list sorted by what you can actually plan around.

The short version

If a feature is not in your Studio, it has not reached your channel yet. YouTube gave countries and dates for very few of these.

Testing the opening, not just the packaging

The most consequential announcement is the smallest sentence: creators will be able to test up to three video cuts to see which opening hook works best. YouTube says creators have already run more than 40 million title and thumbnail experiments since A/B testing launched in 2024.

Title and thumbnail tests decide whether someone clicks. A cut test decides whether they stay. Those are different problems, and until now only the first one could be tested with real viewers.

YouTube has not said yet which metric decides the winner, how long a test runs, or whether it needs a minimum audience. What you can do now is make sure you have something worth testing when it arrives:

  1. Write three genuinely different openings, not three edits of one. A question, a result shown first, and a cold open into the middle of the action test three ideas; trimming two seconds off the same intro tests nothing.
  2. Keep everything after the first 30 seconds identical, so the test measures the hook and not the rest of the video.
  3. Note which opening you would have picked. The interesting result is the one that disagrees with you.

Before spending real impressions on a test, you can sharpen the candidates: our hook generator drafts openings for a topic, and the viral hook analyzer gives an AI read on one you have already written. Neither replaces a real test — they help you avoid testing three weak options.

Thumbnails: two features that overlap

Two announcements touch thumbnails, and it is worth keeping them apart:

  • Ask Studio can work in the background on older videos, suggesting refreshed thumbnails and testing them.
  • Dynamic thumbnails let YouTube recommend the best of three options to different audience segments — so different viewers may see different thumbnails, permanently, rather than one winner replacing the others.

The second changes what "the" thumbnail of a video means. If it reaches your channel, judge a thumbnail by whether it works for a segment, not by whether it is the single best.

Today's native Test & Compare already runs on real viewers. Our A/B testing tool is a different thing — an AI prediction from the images and titles alone — useful for discarding weak options before they cost you a live test.

Draft feedback and the research feed

Draft feedback reads an unpublished video and comments on pacing, structure and storytelling. The new Insights and Research destinations surface past performance and outlier videos as starting points for ideas.

Both are useful in the same limited way any outside opinion is: they are quick, and they are not your audience. A note that the middle drags is worth checking against your retention graph, not obeying.

Shorts series

Shorts series lets creators organise Shorts into seasons and episodes, with custom thumbnails, watched as a continuous story. It is rolling out to Partner Program creators on web, mobile and connected TVs, and builds on last year's Creator Shows.

It suits creators who already make serialized Shorts — a build across many parts, a recurring format, a story told in pieces. If your Shorts are standalone, there is nothing to reorganise.

Editing with Gemini

A conversational editing assistant is coming to Shorts and the YouTube Create app. It can build a first draft from prompts, and suggests reordering frames, trimming, and syncing to music, with the option to switch back to manual timeline editing at any point. YouTube says Gemini Omni, added to Shorts and Create earlier in the year, was used by hundreds of thousands of channels a day in August 2026.

What to do this month

  • Check Studio, not the headlines. Nothing above applies until it shows up in your account.
  • Prepare three openings for your next important upload, so a cut test can start the day it arrives.
  • If you make serialized Shorts, decide now how you would group them into seasons.
  • Treat AI feedback as a second opinion and your analytics as the deciding one.
